Muslim Arabic Words Defined

Sources are The American Heritage College Dictionary 4th Edition, Wikipedia.org – the online source for non-scholars, David Bukay’s article here Islam’s Hatred of the Non-Muslim.

al-Wala wal-Bara (David Bukay's article)
...doctrine of al-Wala wal-Bara (love and hate for the sake of God).
...al-Wala is a manifestation of sincere love for Allah, his prophet and the believers.
...al-Bara is an expression of enmity and hatred toward falsehood and its adherents.
...distinguish the believers from the nonbelievers; ....

Al-Wala wal-Bara means then total loyalty to Islam and total disavowal of anything else.
...Total allegiance and love are only to be given within the Islamic community,
...rejection, hate, and enmity against the other is commanded, based upon Qur'anic foundations:

al-Wala wal-Bara ( wikipedia.org/wiki/Al_Wala'_Wal_Bara' )
Al-wala' wa-l-bara' is an Arabic term meaning "loyalty and disavowal".

Al-wala' wa-l-bara' is referred to by some as holding fast to all that is pleasing to God, and withdrawing from and opposing all that is displeasing to God, namely the Kafirs (un-believers) who are to be hated, for the sake of Allah.

This is for their calling towards something other than submission to God, whether on purpose or by nature of disbelief. But we must also treat them with kindness, and lienancy. Muslims cannot befriend or love disbelievers.

However, there is natural love that a Muslim may feel towards a non-Muslim and he is not to be blamed for it, unless the non-Muslim is hostile towards Islam. This love is instinct and human nature. Such as love for women (e.g. wives), love for parents, and love for other family members, etc.

This love should be balanced with hatred for the sake of Allah because of their rejection of Islam.

Allahu Akbar ( wikipedia.org/wiki/Takbir )
The Takbir, also transliterated Tekbir or Takbeer, is the Arabic phrase Allahu akbar, usually translated as "God is [the] greatest. It is a common Islamic Arabic expression, used in various contexts by Muslims, in formal prayer, in the call for prayer (adhan), as an informal expression of faith, in times of distress, or to express resolute determination or defiance.

The form Allahu is the nominative of Allah, meaning "God". In the context of Islam, it is the proper name of God. The form akbar is the elative of the adjective kabir, meaning "great", from the Semitic root k-b-r. As used in the Takbir it is usually translated as "greatest", but some authors prefer "greater". The phrase is often transliterated less accurately as Allah akbar.

The term Takbir itself is the stem | verbal noun of the triliteral root k-b-r, meaning "great", from which Akbar "greater" is derived.

The term is well known in the West for its common use as a battle cry in Islamic extremism and Islamic terrorism.

Usage:
The phrase is recied by Muslims in many different situations. ... The phrase is not found in the Quran, which does not refer to God as Akbar, but uses the name Al-Kabir (The Great) or Kabir (Great), commonly translated as "Most Great" (13:9, 31:30, 22:62, 34:23, 40:12, 4:34).

Dar al-Islam ( wikiislam.net/wiki/Dar_al-Islam )
Dar al-Islamhouse/abode of Islam [submission-surrender] or Dar al-Salam – house/abode of Peace, are Arabic terms used to refer to lands that are under the rule Muslim governments.

Dar al-Harb ( wikiislam.net/wiki/Dar_al-Harb )
The "house of the war", (also referred to as dar al-Garb "house of the West" in later Ottoman sources) is an Islamic term used for countries which are not under Islamic rule. ... According to The New Encyclopedia of Islam, the dar al-harb (lit. the "abode of war") is "the territories where Islam does not prevail".

Dawah ( wikiislam.net/wiki/Dawah )
Da'wah (also daawa or daawah); Arabic "invitation" is the proselytizing or preaching of Islam

Dawa (David Bukay's article)
Often translated as "preaching" or "teaching," is more literally an "invitation" to humanity to accept Islam as the only true religion and submit to its dictates.

Dhimmi ( wikipedia.org/wiki/Dhimmi )
A dhimmi, Arabic dimmi, collectively ahl ul-dimmah/dhimmah "the people of the dhimma", is a historical term referring to non-Muslim citizens of an Islamic state. The word literally means "protected person".

Dhimmi (David Bukay's article)
In fact, Muslim jurists are careful to make this distinction: Under Islamic rule, and only under Islamic rule, are Jews and Christians to be considered ahl adh-Dhimma, a protected group of second-class citizens designated as such because of their connection to the "Book" (the Bible). When Jews and Christians reside outside Islamic rule (as do Jews in the State of Israel), then they are no longer ahl adh-Dhimma but infidels.

Quran ( wikipedia.org/wiki/Quran )
The Quran, Arabic: al-Qur'an, literally meaning "the recitation", also romanized Qur'an or Koran, is the central religious text of Islam, which Muslims believe to be a revelation from God (Allah). ....

Muslims believe that the Quran was verbally revealed by God to Muhammad through the angel Gabriel (Jibril), gradually over a period of approximately 23 years, beginning on 22 December 609 C.E. when Muhammad was 40, and concluding in 632, the year of his death. Muslims regard the Quran as the most important miracle of Muhammad, a proof of his prophethood, and the culmination of a series of divine messages that started with the messages revealed to Adam and ended with Muhammad. ....

According to the traditional narrative, several companions of Muhammad served as scribes and were responsible for writing down the revelations. Shortly after Muhammad's death, the Quran was compiled by his companions who wrote down and memorized parts of it. These codices had differences that motivated the Caliph Uthman to establish a standard version now known as Uthman's codes, which is generally considered the archetype of the Quran known today. There are, however, variant readings, with mostly minor differenced in meaning.

...
In Sunni Islam, the shahada has two parts...which are sometimes referred to as the first shahada and the second shahada. The first statement of the shahada is also known as the tahlil.
...
Islam's monotheistic nature is reflected in the first shahada, which declares belief in the oneness of God and that he is the only entity truly worthy of worship. The second shahada indicates the means by which God has offered guidance to human beings. ... While the first part is seen as a cosmic truth, the second is specific to Islam, as it is understood that members of the older Abrahamic religions do not view Muhammad as one of their prophets.
...
Recitation of the shahada in front of witnesses is also the first and only formal step in conversion to Islam. ... In accordance with the central importance played by the notion of intention (Arabic niyyah) in Islamic doctrine, the recitation of the shahada must reflect understanding of its import and heartfelt sincerity.

Ummah ( wikipedia.org/wiki/Ummah )
Ummah is an Arabic word meaning "community". ... It is a synonym for ummat al-Islamiyah (the Islamic Community), and it is commonly used to mean the collective community of Islamic peoples. In the Quran the umman typically refers to a single group that shares common religious beliefs, specifically those that are the objects of a divine plan of salvation. In the context of Pan-Islamism and politics, the word Umman can be used to mean the concept of a Commonwealth of the Believers (ummat al-mu'minin).

General Usage:
The word Umman (pl. umam) means Nation in Arabic. For example the Arabic term for the United Nations in Arabic is Al-Umam Al-Mutahedah, and the term Al-Ummah Al-Arabeyah is used to refer to "the Arabic Nation".

The Muslim Profession of Faith and Acts of Fundamentalist Believers

The Muslim (submitter) Qur'an (recitation), the hadith (sayings attributed to Muhammad), the sunna (Muslim way of life), and the shariah (Muslim law code) in the Muslim ummah (community) inspired the mindset of the Muslims who practiced Islam (submission) on September 11, 2001. Their practice of submission caused the early death of almost 3,000 people whose memory will live forever to remind us of the dhimmi danger America and the world face from Muslim fundamentalists.

For people who have not submitted to saying the shahada, the conversion "testimony", and instantly becoming submitters (Muslims) in a submitter (Muslim) controlled country where all other religions are prohibited from challenging submission (Islam), there are three alternatives to not being harassed for not submitting:

(1) Convert..........or
(2) with head and eyes down expressing humility, pay the dhimmi tax – jizya – or
(3) die!

Convert..........or die???
::
::
Convert..........die! reveals the intectually shallow content of the Qur'an and hadith, the fundamentalist Muslim how to be holy book and "holy history" commentary, both of which encourage violence agains bad Muslims (who are not fundamentalists but moderates, or who convert to another religion), atheists, Jews, Christian, etc., that cannot be altered because it is said to have been recited (qur'an means recite) without a single mistake by Allah to an angel named Jibril (Gabriel) who recited it without a single mistake to Muhammad who, according to his "holy history" hadith writers, recited it without a single mistake to his followers. As his "holy history" hadith writers and friends said after he died, Muhammad had to recite the Qur'an with 100% accuracy, word-for-word with zero mistakes, because he could not read or write so he could only recite – with 100% word for word accuracy.

The "holy history" hadith writers say that the Qur'an has the literal words of Allah and the literal words cannot be altered in any way. Why? Becuase the "holy history" hadith writers say so because, well, Allah said it, Muhammad believed it, that settles it.

Oh, yeah, that is Muslim fundamentalism; the reason why Muslim true believers hold signs at demonstrations that say "Islam [submission : surrender] will conquer the world".

Andrew McCarthy:
What Is It That Radicalizes Muslims?

"What is it that radicalizes Muslims, including American Muslims?:

_American foreign policy?
_Israeli “occupation” of the ancient Jewish territories of Judea and Samaria?
_Cartoons depicting the warrior-prophet as a warrior?
_Korans torched by obscure Florida pastors?
_The life of Osama bin Laden, or, perhaps, his death?
_Any of a thousand claimed slights, real or imagined, that purportedly provoke young Muslims to “conflagrate” … .

"Here is the unsettling but sedulously avoided truth: What radicalizes Muslims is Islam.

"We must further note that the fact that Islam itself is the radicalizing catalyst does not mean that all, or even most, Muslims will become radicals.

"But here is another disquieting truth: Even the terms “radicalization” and “radical Islam” get things exactly backwards.

"The reality is that the radicals in Islam are the reformers — the Muslims who embrace Western civilization, its veneration of reason in matters of faith, and the pluralistic space it makes for civil society.

"What we wishfully call “radicalism” is in fact the Islamic mainstream [fundamental]."

Nonie Darwish

"Islam
is a poison to a society.
It's divisive.
It's hateful,

"Islam
is a poison to a society.
It's divisive.
It's hateful,

Darwish told the Florida rally.

"Islam
should be feared, and
should be fought, and
should be conquered, and
defeated and
annihilated, and
it's going to happen.

"Ladies and gentlemen,
Islam
is going to be brought down. ...
Because
Islam
is based on lies and
it's not based on the truth.
I have no doubt whatsoever that
Islam
is going to be destroyed.

"Criticizing Sharia,
Islamic law and other radical laws against
women,
Jews and
non-Muslims
is a crime against Islam in Shariah,

she concluded,

"and CAIR has convinced some Americans that it's a crime in America also.

"If anyone criticizes the ideology of Islam, jihad and Shariah, CAIR spins it to an attack on the Muslim people, confusing the American people between criticism of an ideology and being a racist against a whole group of people," Darwish told WND.

"I hope that the American people are more intelligent than to fall for this kind of childish spin.

As for being labeled an "Islamophobe," Darwish said,

"The truth is that I am afraid of Islamic laws that condemn me and thousands, if not millions of others, who have left the religion of Islam. Shariah is the only religious law in the world that condemns ["to death"] those who leave the religion to death. I do not think it is unreasonable phobia to speak against such a tyrannical law. Actually, it is my duty towards myself and the civil and human rights of many others."
